Please tell me what the difference is?
Thank you so much
Uh, did you search these two terms?
Um, seriously? Yes, I have read a ton about both but have yet to read anything that tells me what the specific difference between the two is, other than price for each one. I’m trying to decide which one to buy next as I already have two MyBook Live Duo’s.
Why not just simply answer the question rather than waste a bunch of time asking me if I’ve done something that I’ve already done?
Thank you…

It’s pretty clear from the documentation and the links posted above that the My Book Duo can ONLY be attached directly to a PC via USB, while the My Book Live Duo MUST be attached to a network and CANNOT be attached via USB to a PC.

You should buy them both.
Thank you very much for your answer. I’m actually not interested in attaching either one directly to a PC. I use my two MyBook Live Duo’s over my network wirelessly as they are attached to the wireless router. My question is whether the MyBook Duo can be used the same way; i.e. can I also access it through my wireless network if it is attached to the wireless router? Does the MyBook Duo have an ethernet connection or ONLY a USB 3.0 connector? Can I attach the MyBook Duo to one of the MyBook Live Duo’s via USB? Will that work as I assume ti would?
I’m not sure what your issue is but you’re not very helpful to a WD customer. I’d suggest that customer aren’t looking for smart-aleck answers but come here to find answers that they need to their questions. Perhaps if you’re incapable or unwillingly to provide some honest and serious answers you might want to consider doing something else with your time.
Trust me, I worked as a volunteer in on-line customer service for a major computer company, and responses such as yours are absolutely inappropriate.
I don’t need to buy both. I just want to buy the one that will suit my purposes best. Thank you.

Have you ever read through the posts on this forum? If you did, you might realize that the WD staff on this forum provide very little help. All of the help on this forum comes from other users who bother to answer questions. If you can’t get up enough ambition to read the product descriptions or manuals on your own, then you can’t very well expect volunteers to hold your hand and spoon feed you. Do the leg work yourself. Then search the forums for similar Qs to see if it has been answered before, THEN as LAST RESORT, post your question.
AND NEVER NEVER insult members of forum who regularly help. Why? Because it turns them off. They don’t return to the forum to help. And then everyone loses.

The My Book Duo does not have an ethernet connection. It’s USB ONLY.
I don’t know if the My Book Live Duo supports the My Book Duo via USB.
As I stated, I did what you’re doing for a major computer company for several years (Gateway 2000). We always seemed to get those helpful souls such as yourself that demanded customers go out and spend a ton of time researching for answers, rather than just simply answering their question and making them happy. You seem to value your time as more valuable than the customers of Western Digital. It’s not. If you want to be helpful, be helpful. Customers generally don’t have the time to waste looking through a ton of topics that have nothing to do with their question.
I searched the Internet looking for the answer to my questions using BING and Google. No luck. After two hours of wasting MY time, I decided to just ask it here. I apologize if I put you out in some way by asking for help. I hope your legs or arms didn’t fall off.
You’re not doing anyone any favors with the attitude you seem to have. Like I said, if you want to be helpful, be helpful and give direct straighforward answers to customers whether the question has been asked ten thousand times or not. It’s faster and makes people much happier. Give folks the run around makes you the one insulting the customer and honestly, your opinion of whether I or anyone else is lazy doesn’t mean a thing.
All we want is a fast answer and it really doesn’t matter to us, as customers, what you think of us or whether your feelings are hurt. You may want to check your own ego at the door next time.
As a resut of your attacks on me, I am seriously thinking of looking elsewhere for my next drive… The only thing that prevents me from doing so is the other, much more experienced person who actually helped me.
If your router has a USB port then chances are you will be able to attach the MBD or any external drive to the router via the USB port and it will be available on your network. Check the router’s documentation to see if this is possible.
