drive says its locked to unlock put in password for drive. I don’t remember setting one up. also I tried to create an image backup of my C drive using Disk Drill. It said i had bad sectors. how can i check this drive out? in regards to password i believe it said the clear password I need to clear the drive?
any help would be appreciated.

Hi @donveto,
It looks like your drive has encryption. If it’s asking for a password and you don’t remember setting one, it might have been added automatically by WD software.
“Clear password” usually means you have to erase (format) the drive, but this will delete everything on it.

Since Disk Drill found bad sectors, the drive might be failing.
Here’s what you can do:

  1. Download WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic and run a Quick Test.
  2. If possible, back up any important files.
  3. If the drive is still readable, you can also try windows data recovery software to save files before erasing.
  4. If the drive shows too many errors, it’s safer to replace it.
