Continuing the discussion from My Passport won't load after Unlocked:
I have not used my Passport Ultra HDD for a few years. Few months back, I put in the password and hey whatdya know, I got it wrong apparently.
If anyone here could suggests other possible solutions to access file in the HDD, would very much appreciate your help. TIA!
I no longer have the laptop I used when I last accessed the HDD and can’t remember which on which Windows.
So for the next few months, I tried unlocking with all sorts of passwords and combinations. Recently, I re-tried the password I first used and it worked! I am now on Windows10. However, the issue is now the drive is NOT accessible even the HDD is unlocked.
Below were done on at least 2 computers (Windows8 and Windows10) referring to WD helpdesk and this thread, when I:
- click on the drive icon or run, browse: X:/ is not accessible. The device is not ready.
- enter the password in the WD Utilities Driver and WD Security, the computer freezes until the HDD is unplugged
- run X:/, again the computer freezes until the HDD is unplugged
- Disk Management: disk is "Unknown’, ‘Not Initialised’, ‘Unallocated’
- Linux could not even get to the password step
