My Passport Essential on new pc

Recently i bought a new pc and i want to use my old WD hard disk “My Passport Essential” to secure my files. Im sure that the hard disk has got a backup from my previous pc so i wanted to know if there was a way to “erase” the old backup inside in order to free space on the device before using it to backup files from my new pc. Thanks

To free up space on your WD “My Passport Essential” drive, you can easily erase the old backup by formatting the drive. On Windows, connect the drive, right-click on it in File Explorer, and select Format. Choose NTFS as the file system and click Start to erase all the data. This will clear the old backup and free up space for new files.

thanks a lot!
