I have a similar problem.
I have a TV series of 21 episodes, so named
[Serie Title] [Season Number]x[Episode Number (2 digit)] [Episode Title]
Before being cataloged are correctly ordered alphabetically, but after being cataloged are sorted by the number of episode, but in the wrong way, ie:
1, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 2, 3, … etc.
How can I order correctly classified episodes of TV series?

No, that’s what the TV Show filter does… It sorts by the <epsidode_number> XML tag.
There’s still an error with Season sorting when there’s 10 or more seasons, but episodes do sort correctly.
Yet after I retrieved the metadata of the season 9 of smallville (21 episodes), episodes were ordered incorrectly (1, 10, 11, 12 … 19, 2, 3, 4, etc.).
Why?
Was present in the XML files generated tag Episode Number.
Tonight, however, try to check with another season.
edit: I never changed the filter, the TV Show filter must be set manually?
