My Book POST Time

Greetings,

I have just purchased an 8TB My Book as a second backup ‘location’. I am satisfied with the speed as this will be used once a week. This is the only spinning drive on the machine. All other drives are solid state.

One thing that I noticed is that after attaching the My Book, when I start up (hot or cold), the POST time has gone from about 8 seconds to ~20.

I am assuming that the fact the drive is spinning adds a bit of time to POST as it has to spin up in order for the system to say OK. That is a guess on my part. If this is true and/or there is another reason, is it possible to make any adjustment in BIOS or Windows to speed up the POST?
