Moving to a new computer

I’ve been using my passport ultra on an older laptop that runs on windows 7. I’ve just bought a new laptop that runs on windows 10. Can I just plug my passport ultra into the new machine and start backing it up or do I have to clear the stuff from the old computer off? If so, how do I do that?

Sorry, I know this is something I should already know but I’m a low tech guy. Any help would be appreciated.

No, its not mandatory to clear the stuff from the drive. If the drive has sufficient space you can simply connect that to your new machine & start using as per your requirement & convenience.
