Install unrar

I am building a small script to run after Transmission downloads something, and it needs unrar.

I found a way to install unrar on my WD My Cloud Mirror and it works, but it seems that the operating system is stored in memory and does not persist anything that is not installed through the web client installer for much longer.

Is there a way to install unrar in the CLI and keep it installed?

Hi there and welcome to the WD community.

I have not tried this since it is not supported by WD. Lets see id another user can share some tips and help on this matter.

If you could share the method you used to install unrar it would be greatly appreciated.  I’m in the exact same boat as you.  I’m going from another NAS server which used a script that was run when a transmission download was complete.  This included unraring the file and moving to the correct location.

With multiple people working on this, we may be able to find a way to install custom packages like unrar.
