If I format to NTFS, can i still read and connect with my iPad?

Hi All,

I have a new 3TB My Passport Wireless. It says that NTFS offers better file resilience. If I format to NTFS, can i still read and connect with my iPad?

TIA

Dwayne

Sure.

Why bother? My MPW has been exFAT since I got it over 5+ years ago and works fine on many ios and windows devices. Too many people format these things for no good reason including this one. Just live with it and you will see.

The file system(s) used on the MPWP’s internal drive are not directly exposed to IOS, so you could choose either exFat or NTFS. However if you rely on the SD Card backup feature to copy large amounts of data, you will want to choose exFat as my testing show a 50% data transfer improvement… Backup to NTFS ~30MB/s. Backup to exFAT ~42 - 45MB/s.

Wow…that’s exactly what i’m using it for! Thanks for the info, everyone!
