If this is the first time you are trying to activate an old My Cloud Home Duo, whether it is new or used old stock, meaning it had firmware from more than 4 or 5 years ago, it may not update properly. You should file a support ticket directly with WD Tech support and make sure you can still return to your retailer for refund if needed.
