Hi! I wonder how can I have acces to my WD MyPassport when I am a far away from home.

  1. I have MyPassport turned ON, in my house, Wi-Fi is working
  2. I am in a different country now, I have wi-fi acces on my mobile. So… Is there any possibility to see and open my MyPassport storage?

I think - yes. But I have to know how to do it.

No, the MPW is NOT a NAS. if you have power plugged in constantly, you can damage your MPW or its battery… You need a NAS (by WD) that is hard wired to AC power and to your network.

Ok, I understand firtst topic. But what are you talking about? Can’t I hawe my WD MyPassport turned on all the time (plugged to electricity)? WHAT?
I have bought that disk because I wanted to use it all the time.

Too many people gave damaged their battery using long term use on MPW. Search forum for bloated battery. If you want constant access or back up capability, a wired portable drive or better yet, a NAS is best. I have a WD NAS for 24/7 access for at home and remotely and an MPW for occasional use when traveling, but do what you want with your device. Read about battery use, care and maintenance in the user manual.
