Hello wd
community I wanted to ask if it is normal if my hard drive squeaks and makes noises when touched/pressed lightly. You have to mention that the hard drive is not yet connected

I own several WD Elements Portables and WD Passports … most are older models
and yes, they all squeak if you apply pressure to them, i wouldn’t be concerned though as it’s just the plastic casing making the sound.
Ok thank you
Squeaking or unusual noises from a hard drive can indicate a mechanical issue or damage, and it’s a sign that the drive may be failing or experiencing problems. If you hear such noises, it’s best to avoid using the drive. Additionally, make sure to back up your data regularly to prevent potential data loss in the future.
