Game Mode 2.0

Can we stop putting out products with features and never explaining how to actually access and use the feature(S).

I have a WD Black SN 850x (heatsink or not doesn’t matter) this is about the supposed game mode 2.0 that everyone keeps mentioning.

How come no one can seem to explain a thing about this feature that matters. Great we all know it’s supposed to be there. How about explaining is this automatically active or is this a feature we have to activate by some method?

Why can’t people explain if this is something that has to be manually turned on then HOW they hell are you supposed to know that when there isn’t a single instruction about this.

Seriously stop putting out products with features you cannot explain how to access and or use! You also need to tell anyone that does a review they also need to explain this as well.
The only reason I happen to know about Game mode 2.0 is because a couple of people mentioned it. If they didn’t mention this I would have never know about it and would have been deprived of feature i paid money to be able to know about and use.

There is no point in touting a feature that no one knows how to access and or use. if you cannot provide fully detailed information and instructions on everything in an item then don’t release it.

Are you sure you are asking about something that is a WD product? Who is, we? I don’t put any products out, I use them.

My computers all use Windows. See if this helps you.

Game mode is some marketing hype at the best of times. Storage is rather mundane at the best of times.

Hi @TL_G,

I understand your frustration—WD hasn’t been very clear about Game Mode 2.0 on the SN850X. To clarify: Game Mode 2.0 is a feature accessible through the WD Dashboard software. Once you install it, the dashboard lets you check if Game Mode is active and toggle it on or off. On the SN850X, Game Mode 2.0 is not enabled by default—you have to manually activate it in the software.

It’s designed to optimize drive performance for gaming workloads by keeping the SSD in a high-performance state. I agree WD should document these features better, but hopefully, this helps you get the most out of your drive.

I was also curious about Game Mode 2.0 too but couldn’t find anything straightforward about turning it on or off. Eventually, I found out it’s usually automatic, but sometimes needs a firmware update or tweaking in software. It’s like they expect us to just guess. By the way, if you’re into upgrading your setup or skins, finding cheap cs skins helped me get some neat stuff without breaking the bank.

Only thing that can help a hard disk is more cache memory and a larger RAM disk transfer area
