Found something interesting

just got the WDTVlive streamer for the bedroom

adding the hub 1tb HDD to  mymedia gives me the folder thumb on the drive

adding my NAS HDD to mymedia gives me the folder thumb on the drive

on the hub these 2 drives are there automatically and do not show the folderthumb for the drives and unable to add them to mymedia on the hub

this is not a very consistant layout and i think should be fixed by WD

thanks for sharing, just can’t understand why you got another WD device?

i traded a bluray player that never got used for it.

didnt pay. But makes sence since both will be accessing the same files and be themed and function the same way. so no matter what tv im at it will be same experience.

WD isnt perfect but for the most part, it does what i want it to. Every movie I throw at it, it plays. and the genious themers here [with the lack of support from WD developers] still pump out some fantastic work.

I am content with WD.

As for this issue i think i have figured out the reasoning.

the built in HDD and the NAS[connected to hub via USB] are consider local drives to the hub

they are considers shared folders to the LIVE

folders get images… drives do not.

im sure this is the reason for my experience but not something WD cant fix with a minor code tweak to correct. They could do 1 better and allow local drive to be setup to be viewed as shares for mymedia… more control on folder structures and heirarchy, then the root of a drive.
