Files Failed to Backup

When I open the WD Backup for My Passport Ultra drive I always show a message that some files could not be backed up during the last backup. When I view these files there appears to be hundreds of them. They have no file extensions but their names are similar to this example: 0017d7b87e0006509afd124aab525383_2f5406be-c6e6-4cb9-8e50-70f792d8e05f

Can anyone tell me what these files are and where they would be found? They are all very small, less than 3 KB each and there is no way to delete them. I have searched the computer and the registry and nothing looks similar to these files.

Windows 7 (64 Bit) which was recntly reverted back from Windows 10 “upgrade”.

Hello,

Have you tried running an antivirus on the computer?

Yes, I ran a full virus scan. Since my original post I changed my backup plan from a full C:\ drive backup to a lesser backup and the message no longer appears. I feel these files may be left over from the temporary transition to Windows 10. The entire “upgrade” was a nightmare to my desktop and laptop PC’s. I even had to do a clean reinstall of Windows 7 on my laptop.

I realize your post is quite old, but your stated problem is the closest to my situation. Were you ever able to locate the files not backed up? I have searched extensively on my machine and cannot find the buggers. You also mentioned you switched from a full to a lesser backup; what did you exclude from your new backup. Thanks in advance.

I honestly can say, I don’t remember much about this. I did create a new backup plan to include only “My Documents” and not "C:". I remained with Windows 7 until July 2016 and upgraded both PC’s to Windows 10. This time everything went smooth and I have had no problems with Windows 10. I never saw these files again with my daily backups. I also went back to the backup of "C:".
