I have a easy store Wd external hard drive. it won’t show up in finder, disk utility, or desk top. In command prompt I can locate it using “diskutil list” but it won’t mount, reject, or anything else. It times out. when restarting my Mac, the WiFi will take a few mins to connect. The big factor is the loading with disk utility. last night I left the device connected and woke up to it asking for the password, this was the first time it shown any sign of working again. I put in the password and it just loaded for 10 mins before I restarted the computer. When it asked for the password it showed up in disk utility but after the restart it went back to what it was doing before not showing up.
disk utility just loads while external hard drive is connected, it seems to time out while using terminal trying to eject. any ideas on what to do. all I know is so far the only progress I have seen is when it was connected over night did the system actually see the device. everything on the system seems to be loading, for example when I click Macintosh HD and go to “systems” or “applications” or “user” even clicking the trash can, it all just sits there loading while the device is connected.
