Up until about a month ago, I was able to delete some backups from my external Elements drive. Is this no longer possible? I have a Mac.
ie, in mid-August, once I’ve verified the July backups were successful, I might just keep the backups from the 1st and last day of the month, and delete the ones in-between. I work on certain files daily. This has worked well for me in the past.
If it worked before, it’s probably not that WD suddenly stopped allowing deletions. If these are Time Machine backups, macOS/Time Machine may be managing them differently, so I’d avoid deleting backup folders directly in Finder. WD now has an official guide for removing Time Machine backups on macOS Ventura through Sequoia. Steps to Remove Time Machine Backup If they’re just regular files, you should still be able to delete them normally—just make sure the previous backup is verified before removing anything.
