How do I disable Port Forwarding on a 2TB My Cloud Home?
It is often more productive to ask for help on ‘what you are trying to do’ than ask something more esoteric such as ‘how to do X when it is not possible or available’.
Port Forwarding is a function of the router, usually through UPnP setting on a compatible router (many routers have this off or is not compatible at all with a Personal Cloud storage). Nearly all commercial NAS cloud accessible storage such as WD My Cloud, My Cloud Home and Synology devices will automatically try to do UPnP if it is compatible and available. UPnP is just an automatic Port Forwarding protocol.
So if you want to disable Port Forwarding:
- Turn UPnP off at the router is the easiest way.
- If you have no access to the router and you are not the admin then you will have to know how to isolate the NAS from the router by using a managed VLAN switch or a Network security device or even a mac or PC set up with two network adapters and a switch.
