I don’t know. MyCloud is connected to the Mac, which is connected directly to Internet.
I have no choice : when connecting through router, we experiment cuts every minute,
because of incompatibility between Cisco and Mac on some protocol. We spent hours
with IT before finding out.

That is an unusual configuration, and not the one recommended in the user manual (except for recovery in the event of a router failure).

I suspect this is probably the cause of your problems. Connecting as a local resource is likely to give the MyCloud an IP address in the 169.xxx.xxx.xxx range, as it won’t be assigned by a DHCP server. Your iMac, connected directly to the internet will probably have a global IP address, assigned by your ISP. You can check these by the Dashboard and a command like ipconfig on the iMac.

Essentially, you appear to be operating without a local network, and I’m not sure how well that will work.

I don’t think so.
My IP address is a normal 192.xxx.xxx, assigned through DHCP.
The IP address of MyCloud is also 192.xxx.xx.
The connection is not direct, it’s through a Devolo DLAN.

Anything else you need to tell us about your setup?

Apart the fact we had to battle with phone company to have finally a stable Internet and telephone service due to poor street cabling and other feats they’re accustomed to, and the fact that the WD is connected to a USB powered hub and not directly to the iMac, I don’t see.

Wait, what? What exactly is the My Cloud Ethernet port connected to? What exactly is the My Cloud USB port connected to?

It may help if you explain how your local network is setup and what is connected to what. What is the specific network router or network switch model name that the My Cloud is connected to?

MyCloud Ethernet port is connected to router
MyCloud USB is connected to Mac through USB hub

Why is the MY Cloud USB port connected to your Mac? The My Cloud USB port is ONLY for connecting USB hard drives. The My Cloud USB port IS NOT designed to be connected to a computer so the computer can use the USB connection to the MY Cloud as an external hard drive. Remove the USB connection between the My Cloud and the Mac and see if the non visible file issue continues.

No change.
Under Safari, wdmycloud.local and http://wdmycloudmirror.local
are unaccessible
Under Chrome or Opera, http://wdmycloud.local/ : same problem
Under Chrome or Opera, only access is to http://wdmycloudmirror.local

From the Finder/Mac, still empty files/folders.

Lets step this discussion back a bit. If you are looking for the files that WD Sync is supposed to be copying from your Mac to the My Cloud and they are not showing up on the My Cloud. As previously explained that is a problem some are having with the WD Sync program not properly copying files from one location to another. Some have stopped using WD Sync and use third party sync programs instead like Free File Sync (https://www.freefilesync.org/). Note most third party sync programs do not support official remote access to the My Cloud.

If you are using Mac Finder to copy files from your Mac to the My Cloud and the files are not showing up on the My Cloud that is a separate issue.

If you can copy files to the My Cloud from a Mac using Mac Finder then the problem lies with WD Sync.

If you are using a different device or Windows computer and can see the files on the My Cloud then that would suggest a problem on the Mac where it is not properly displaying the files in the My Cloud Share/folder.

You might want to do some troubleshooting steps that may help narrow down or fix the issue.

  1. Configure the My Cloud with a static IP address either reserved through the network router or configured within the My Cloud Dashboard.
  2. Map the My Cloud to your local network Mac using Finder (https://support.wdc.com/knowledgebase/answer.aspx?ID=2686)
  3. Copy files from the Mac using Finder to the My Cloud and see if they copy.
  4. If using WD Sync, uninstall WD Sync. Download the latest WD Sync program from WD (https://support.wdc.com/product.aspx?ID=904) and install it. Configure the WD Sync program and then let it run to see if it syncs files. You may have to leave it for several hours syncing before you see files copied to the My Cloud.
  5. If you are having trouble seeing the files from a remote connection then you may have to configure the My Cloud remote access with static ports and enable port forwarding through your network router to the My Cloud (https://support.wdc.com/knowledgebase/answer.aspx?ID=14244). In some cases simply turning off remote access then turning it back on can fix certain remote My Cloud issues.
  6. If files or folders are not showing up when using MyCloud.com try a different web browser.

Thank you.
When I copy from the Mac to WD using Finder, it works perfectly.
The problem resides with WD Sync.
I’ll try your other suggestions when I’ll have some time.
Two questions bother me :

  • when I first installed WS Sync and copied, it worked perfectly.
  • disk are constantly running, getting hot, while no sync is occurring, so much so
that I prefer put in long sleep from Dashboard rather than having running for nothing.
