I have been using WD My Passport Ultra to backup files on my old laptop for several moths. Now I got a new laptop (both have Win 10) and trying to restore my personal files kept on the drive. First problem I see, it does not install the backup software. Going through installation fine, but only shows Drive utilities and Security installed. I tried to install WD Backup separately and, as a last step to restore the files, but getting “No backup target found”, and I see the files on the drive. Need help!
Hello,
Make sure your drive is not locked.
If you still cannot retrieve using WD Backup then go directly into the backup folder and retrieve your files manually.
The backup folder is located in the root of the drive and it is called “WDBackup.Swstor”
When I go to “WDBackup.Swstor” on the explorer the data is encrypted with extra extension and are useless? Can someone help me please as I will have to return the storage device to restore the files properly…
