Can My Cloud mirror be us as a web server?

Can this product be user as a web server?  I like to load something like apache or other compatible web services, for learning purposes. I don’t have a web server, I thought this might work.

Thank you.

Hi, this type of use is not supported, for more information on this, maybe some of the other users can share their advice.

Yes, it can very easily be used as a web server - but you don’t have to load it with Apache or anything. It comes pre-loaded with the lighttpd web server (which is very similar to Apache but has a smaller memory footprint and is a more nimbler web server). You do have to make a couple small changes first - see my post →   http://community.wd.com/t5/WD-My-Cloud-EX2/Share-your-files-with-friends-using-http-links/td-p/785417

Also, see my followup post about security implications if you do choose to use it as a web server…see →   http://community.wd.com/t5/WD-My-Cloud-EX2/Enabling-logging-for-lighttpd-web-server/td-p/788667

Finally, check out my post about how to install the website (CMS) app called Joomla that is included amongst the apps with the Mirror, if you want to simply setup a sophisticated website with minimal hassle →   http://community.wd.com/t5/WD-My-Cloud-EX2/Need-help-with-Joomla-install/td-p/774765

Can you do the same with WD My Cloud WDBCTL0020HWT Personal Cloud Storage?

I have two personal web sites for which I would like to avoid the hosting fee by hosting them myself. They have very little traffic.

Thx

I just bought a WD DL 2100 and I’d like to do as other on this thread are attempting: use it as a web server to the outside world.

Is the setup the same as on a My Cloud EX2?

Also, how would I assign my onw domain name to this sort of web site configuration?  I registered domain names with GoDaddy and I am on a dynamic IP in my home (Comcast).  I was told I need to use a Managed DNS service like Google DNS or no-ip.com to make this happen.

Any insights here would be welcomed.

Thanks!
