Can I use existing HDDs with new MyCloud EX2 Ultra

Hi, I already have 2 large disks in my home computers - A 4TB WD blue, and a 3TB seagate. I want to change my setup and use these disks in a NAS.
Can I get a new MyCloud EX2 Ultra with no disks and use the existing disks in it (in JBOD)?

I realize that since the device is using ext4, I will have to reformat the drives and recopy the data from backup. But my question is about the basic compatibility - Will the MyCloud EX2 Ultra work with these disks or must I use WD Red or Purple drives?

Hello,

Not sure if this is possible as those units are not in the supported drives list.

Please check the link below that has a full list of the compatible drives for the EX2 ultra

Give it a try & let us know.

Hi LiorL! I have a 3TB caviar green WD disk which I took out from a broken My Book network storage. And I have just ordered an EX2 Ultra thinking it works with my 3TB green disk. In the end it was another WD NAS disk. Now I’m not sure since I saw there were only Red, Red Pro and some Purple in EX2’s compatibility list. I would be much appreciated if you could give it a try and let us know. Thank you.

Sorry, but eventually I’ve decided to buy a Qnap NAS.
I thank all of you that tried to help!
