Backup photos to non-public folder

I want to backup my cellphone pictures onto the mycloud NAS using the mycloud app, but the app seems to only give me the option save to the public folder. As the admin, is there a workaround to be able to backup to a folder only I can access? Since these drives are meant to be shared among multiple users it would seem silly for the camera backup to only be able to access the public folder on the drive…

I thought about creating another user for myself and then managing the access, but then how would that work in the app, would I only be able to be signed in as either the admin or another user?

Thanks for the response, but those links only show how to backup to a folder within the “public” share, which is the issue I’m trying to work around. I want to be able to save to a non-public share that only I have access to.

Is there a way to do this? Thanks for any suggestions

I also had this problem and have found a solution. The only way you can select a non-public folder backup location is to use the autobackup assistant that pops up when you add a new My Cloud device. The assistant allows you to select a location from all My Cloud shares (that you have user access to). You will have to disable autobackup and remove your My Cloud Device before adding it again to make the autobackup assistant pop up.

A response to an old thread but I hope this helps others who search for this issue in the future.

Thank you! It did help.
