I just noticed the other user having the problem was from italy too, maybe that’s an ISP problem, but I successfully downloaded transmission before, I have no clue.
How do I grant access to my mycloud?
EDIT: I did it! Plugging the mycloud directly to the 100mbit router did the trick. The netgear switch was blocking something.
One last question: how do temporary I disable transmission? Sometimes I have trouble moving files within Windows, permission denied. Thank you a lot.
Using different DNS won’t change your public IP. Try Google “what is my IP”
few times every hour and notice your IP will remain the same unless the
router is rebooted causing new IP leased. The IP could also remain the same
after router rebooted if the IP you’re seeing is a proxy or like my ISP
giving out static IP.
Now the issue is your public IP kept changing not sure if that’s a proxy or
something strange going on? You need to sort this out maybe asking your
ISP. The other user from Italy was having DNS issue, different from yours.
Forward port 22 on your router to your MyCloud then PM me your temporary
root password together with your current IP from here http://

First of all I only have one user, the user I set up when I setup the new Cloud drive.

Not sure why your new files are created as permission 644, it’s showing as permission 664 for mine so it’s writable to group share.
Try below:

If it still doesn’t work, I don’t know what changes that has been brought to OS3. If that’s the case then you will need to first “Copy & Paste” the downloads to your preferred destination via SMB shares, then remove the torrent including its data from the WebUI. Another way is to script your own post-processing script to modify the permissions which I’ll not elaborate further here.

Hello, today I upgraded the firmware, I had already installed transmission. after the upgrade I tried reinstalling transmission as I had done previously, but keeps giving me error-9. I tried to restart the modem, without success. could you help me? thank you

Does anyone know, how i can change the user transmission runs as, i.e creates the torrent files as. I’m having some permission issues on the downloaded files.
As this transmission daemon doesnt seem to have a standard config, i cant figure out how to set that user. Currently my files are being created as root.

As you know my builds are not standard. It’s started up from cron as root. I must warn you about running daemons as other than root because certain apps like this needs to know the home path and MyCloud itself wasn’t properly configured to login other users via SSH.
well whatever its worth… I already have another user for ssh working fine on the WD. The user is also in the root group. Im trying to run the daemon as that user. I guess if theres no way… I’ll live with it like this…Problem is after transmission has downloaded a file, its user:group are set to “root:share”. Therefore my samba user doesnt see the file. For some odd reason it sees the folder in windows. SO as a workaround. Part of my “torrent_completed” script changes the user:group on the entire folder where i download my torrents. That has been my “fix for the last year”.
