APFS or HFS+ on Big Sur?

I just formatted a new 10TB USB-C G-Drive to APFS but have been reading conflicting reports on which format is best for this unit. Your most recent recommendations (for HFS+) are from early 2019. Has anything changed since? Should I still revert to HFS+ or am I safe with APFS?

Hi @ergwork,

APFS formatted volumes can be read by a macOS High Sierra (10.13), but not by a macOS Sierra (10.12) or earlier.

For more information, please refer to Apple KBA ID HT208018 - Prepare for APFS in macOS High Sierra.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Sorry I should have been more specific in my question but I am running the latest Mac OS (Big Sur 11.5) and was asking about which format is recommended for a 10TB G-Drive (I also have an empty 6TB G-Drive) assuming I’m only using hardware running versions above High Sierra.
