Access denied to retrieved files

Since 18 months, I have been backing up files of WD Passport believing in case of loss of files/computer , I will be able to retrieve these. My computer got damaged and have new computer. Retrieved files, but get “access denied” message to each file. From the discussion thread \I found way to enable security of EACH file, but it is not practical to manually un-check each file.
Is there a method or software which can fix this issue as batch to all folders ?

Sorry to hear about the issues you’re currently experiencing with the files on your drive. What’s the method you’re currently using to access those files? What version of Windows are you using?
You could try to take ownership of the drive and/or a specific folder/s, to see if that fixes things up.
