First step is to ensure you are using a My Cloud device and not a My Cloud Home device. My Cloud Home is a completely different device. If one uses the forum search feature (magnifying glass icon upper right) they will find a few past discussions on attempting to use SSH to update the firmware on a single bay/single drive My Cloud. Of course if one doesn’t have SSH already enabled in the My Cloud Dashboard they generally won’t be able to enable it without being able to access the My Cloud Dashboard.
Few word of warning!!! Using SSH may void the device’s warranty. You proceed at your own risk!!! Incorrect commands issued via SSH can render the My Cloud unusable. Trying to update one’s firmware using SSH (if even possible) is not officially supported by WD.
