Write to nas

Hi,

I cant seem to get my wdtv live to write a .wd_tv folder or files to a my wdcloud. So it alwasy forgets the play position after its be off over night. I can delete stuff from the wdtv so I guess it has full access to the drive.

Any help? thx

Is the target share a Public share?

no but I have tried it in a public folder too.

The live HD and Live plus don’t do that. Are you in the correct forum?

have a wdtv live and it writes to usb so dont see why it shouldn’t write to a nas drive?

Because it doesn’t.  SImple as that.

That feature came along in later generations of players such as the Live Hub.

in the UK we only have the live. I have had v1 which my kids use and that writes a time stamp to a nas. So you’re telling me they removed this from v2?

There have been LOTS of “Lives”

WD TV Live HD

WD TV Live Plus

These are the two this forum is about.

Then:

The WD TV Live Hub

The WD TV Live Streaming Media Player (A/K/A the Gen 3)

All four of those were sold in the UK.  Those two do what you want.  The prior two do not.

The latest player (came out last year) is simply the WD TV.  (Not Live.)  And yes, it writes resume points to the NAS if you’ve configured the media library.

What’s the Model Number of your player?

WDBGXT0000NBK-01

You have the Live SMP (Gen 3.)

Its forum is here:

http://community.wd.com/t5/WD-TV-Live-Streaming/bd-p/streaming_discussions

… and yes, it can write resume data for NAS-based media as long as you’re using the Media Library.

What model is your kids’ device?  (The one you say is V1).
