Windows XP

Any way to get this to run with windows XP?

Hello,

Can you elaborate a bit more on your question?

What exactly would you like to run with Windows XP?

Get WHAT to run?

Sorry I thought you had all the Info.
I have a Passport Ultra that I just bought from Sam’s Club.
I want to get it running on an old computer that is running Windows XP.
Is that possible?
This computer is not connected to the internet and is on a pier to pier network with 5 other computers running XP.
We just use it to store old PDF files.
My last one quit working.
I have a backup but now i’m working with the backup.

Hello,

The drive should work without any issues with Windows XP.

When I plug it in the wizard cannot find the necessary software.
Is there a driver I need?

Hello,

You dont need to install any software in order to use the drive.

You should be able to see in on “computer”

When I first plug it in the “Found new hardware” wizard starts.
The wizard cant find the software needed.
Start, My computer, and there’s nothing there.
It is acting like it needs a driver.
When I go to the device manager it shows the “WD SES Device USB Device” with an error
Can you help?

I had the same problem. I used a program called “Partition Magic” made by PowerQuest to re-partition the drive. But, since XP wasn’t seeing the drive, I had to utilize a computer with Windows 7 OS. Once on Win7, with the drive found, the software lets you right click on the drive and select “Delete Volume”. Size your partition. Choose your volume name. and tell it to go ahead. Then let it format the drive. Reason for this is that the new Elements are not partitioned in MBR, but only GBT. The software puts in MBR partitions that XP can see.
I understand this can be done in Win 7 without extra software, but I had the software so. But again, you need access to a computer with Win 7 or above OS.
