Can I use a WD USB 2.0 external hard drive to back up the files on my Windows 98SE desktop pc?

I have my doubts that it will work. You can connect and try to copy things manually.

I gather I should plug the USB from the WD into the pc and see if this is recognised on the screen. If it is, I can copy files to that device. Thanks for the suggestion.
