Windows 2000 and Mac with My Passport Essentials 320GB

I have a My Passport Essentials 320GB…a red one…

I see on the box that it supports Windows XP and up, and that some versions of Mac OS (Leopard and Tiger) would need reformatting.

Right now, my XP and Vista machines see it no problem, but my Win 2000 machine doesn’t even see that a USB device was plugged in.  The light does come on, though.  Is it an OS issue or maybe not enough power gets to the unit?  I remember seeing something about some USB ports only giving out 500rpms instead of 1000rpms.

I was wondering:

1. How would I do this formatting for Leopard and Tiger)

  1. Would the drive still work for PCs?

  2. Would it then work with Windows 2000?

PS, I know it’s not RPMs, just can’t remember the proper measurement unit.
