I have a spare external HD enclosure.
If I remove the disk from the WD Studio drive enclosure and place it into the third party enclosure, will this get rid of the unwanted Smartware Virtual CD?

The only thing I should warn you is that you should disable the password protedction before doing this, since VCD is needed to unlock the drive. Good luck 
Also it seems that VCD cannot be removed since its built into the firmware >.>
