Which Cat5 cable to use from Linksys router to WD My Cloud?

Would I need a crossover cable or a straight thru cable to go from my Linksys router directly to my WD MyCloud NAS drive?

Couldn’t find this answer in any of the docs or instructions that came with it.

Thanks!

Steve

A regular CAT5 or CAT5e cable (not a crossover) is all you need.

You only need a crossover cable when connecting a hub to hub or switch to hub or switch to switch.  And that’s only for the older ones.  The newer ones you buy today are auto sensing meaning you can use either cable and it will work.

I have heard some people needing ones connecting a modem to a router.  But not that many have.  I think one of my friends needed a crossover cable for that.
