What happens when you ignore someone?

I put someone on the list, but i can still see their posts?

There is an explanation of ignore at the bottom of this page:

Basically, ignore will stop someone from sending Private Messages to you.

I thought it might have worked as on a lot of forums, where you can’t see their posts in the forums as well.
