Hello,

is it possible that the WD TV Live Hub (WDBACA0010BBK) runs fully without the internal 2.5 SATA HDD, but only operate with an external USB HDD entirely?

I’ll wait a few more days, if no one answers this question I’ll open mine and pull the drive and hook it up on the USB port and find out.

Even though it will void the warranty. I know for sure is possible for the hub to operate without the internal unit.

I’m not absolutely certain, but I believe it will function without the HDD–and recognize an external HDD.

There are several things that will not work.

iTunes Server, Twonky, and Remote Access (WD Photos) spring to mind…

I just got the unit. Everything works great.
