Western Digital Mybook Essential Tabs not working

I have a 2TB Western Digital Mybook Essential and I can’t access any information.
I have 28,000files that I cannot find.
My whole life’s work and photos are on this thing and I can’t open anything.
My computer crashed and I have it all on this but can’t access it. New hardrive Is a windows 10from a windows 8.1.
I can see the Home, Backup, Retrieve, Settings tabs but only home and settings are lit up.
I would appreciate any help or guidance on how to use as the manual is not very clear and very confusing. Thank you in advance.
