WDTV wont play files in the root of a share folder

Hi,

Does anyone know how to fix this, I have shared a folder on the hard drive of my PC, the WDTV can see the files in the folder but cannot play them (unsupported file type) however if I simply put them in a folder in the shared drive then the WDTV can play them.

It seems like the WDTV cannot pley files in the root of a share folder.

Is this correct?

No, I have not run into that issue; and about 70 of my 150 or so movie files are in the root folder of the share.

This is a wild guess, but it might be that the ROOT FOLDER doesn’t have the same permissions as the SUBFOLDERS.

Meaning it can SEE the files, but it cannot OPEN them for reading.
