WDTV Live Gen.2 - How to reload firmware?

The player (WDBAAP0000NBK) is running 1.06.43.
It’s been running OK, but recently threw some sort of hissy fit and now is a bit scrambled.
I thought I’d reload 1.06.43.
How do I do this, please?

Or is there an earlier firmware that’s better behaved?

if you want to re-flash the firmware with the same version then you will need to edit the

wdtvlive.ver file (open it with Notepad or any text editor you have) and change the “VERSION” to a higher number.

example:

VERSION=‘1.06.43_V’
LOCATION=‘wdtvlive.bin’
PKG_LOCATION=‘wdtvlive.pkg’
ROOTFS2=‘’

to

VERSION=‘2.06.43_V’
LOCATION=‘wdtvlive.bin’
PKG_LOCATION=‘wdtvlive.pkg’
ROOTFS2=‘’

WDTV will now detect the firmware as “new version”
