I was wondering why the [Deleted] this thing just stopped working.
CAN see the Media Center files
CANNOT see windows shared folders
I run a Win7 machine as my central server and went into my system to look for any possible error messages in the event viewer. I saw many instances of this:
- The server was unable to allocate from the system nonpaged pool because the server reached the configured limit for nonpaged pool allocations.
And thought - ok sure why not I’ll take a break and fix this error then get back to the issue of not being able to see shared folders on my network anymore.
Google took me here:
What’s so interesting about this page? This quote:
- Apparently you need to tell Windows that you want to use the machine as a file server and that it should allocate resources accordingly.
I set the registry entries, rebooted and WHOOPDEFREAKINDOO it worked.
It references this page as well as the source:
This fix took me all of five minutes including the reboot.
Give it a try.
