WDTV HD (Gen1?) Not recognizing WD Elements 1TB

I have a WDTV HD player, which I assume is Gen1. The WDTV Media Player has NO updates or upgrades. I recently picked up a 1TB WD Elements external hard drive and to my suprise the player doesn’t recognize the 1TB drive.

WDTV HD Media Player:  Model WD00AVN

WD Elements: Model WDBAAU0010HBK-NESN

Do I require a Firmware update for the WDTV HD player to recognize the drive.

Hello, 

Nope, no firmware updated required , Elements should work fine with WD TV HD. Try connecting the Elements to 

a different power outlet, not a surge please and see how it go’s . You can test the drive with your computer just to make sure the drive works fine.

PROBLEM RESOLVED.

I reset the factory setting and plugged the drive into a outlet instead of a power bar.
