I only want to watch movies off usb stick or computor, and my tv is not new enough to have that feature of built in media player

Like what? I want something that I can use just a USB stick or hard drives to play movies on my tv. So far nothing I find is even close to that. I do not want to use my phone, tablet, ipad, etc to stream and watch. These are movies I have on my drives I wish to watch
Me too, and what i use does exactly that (play Movies from a USB 4TB My Passport Ultra)
Me neither, i don’t stream anything and don’t use a Phone, Tablet or iPad
I have a RPi 3 works great for what i need !
