WDlive_plus firmware icon does not come up_using USB

I downloaded Firmware 1.04.31 (files: wdtvlive.bin, wdtvlive.fff, wdtvlive.ver). I dropped the 3 files on to my USB. After iI connect the USB into the WDTV Live Plus, prees Home then Settings but the Firmware icon does not come up. What am I doing wrong?

I tried first within a folder & then without a folder.  There’s nothing else on the USB.

Problem could be one of several things-

1)  Your USB drive is not formatted correctly. Many pen drives have strange formatting that the WDTV can not recognise. If so, reformat with a standard partition/format scheme on a PC.

2)  You downloaded the wrong firmware for your device. You say you have the Live Plus so you need the _B firmware.

3)  You have the latest firmware and therefore there is no upgrade.

If you are sure that your USB device is correctly formatted and you have the correct firmware for your device then-

  1. Power off the WDTV

  2. Remove then re-insert the USB device

  3. Power on the WDTV

If you do not get a prompt to upgrade the firmware then-

  1. Your USB device is not formatted correctly

  2. You have the wrong firmware for your particular WDTV model

  3. You have the latest firmware

Thanks so much.  Strange, I downloaded from this site http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/updates/?family=wdfwdtv_liveplus , but the update file didn’t have _b at the end.  So I went to a non WD site & downloaded the _B firmware file & it worked.

If you installed the brad firmware then you are now on your own. No support for it here.

I couldn’t find it on the WD site.

It does for me when I click the download link.

The update page for the Live doesn’t have the _B at the end, because it’s the _V version.  :wink:
