WDC WD10EARS-00Y5B1 Fails to work

I have a WDC WD10EARS-00Y5B1 that passes a smart test and passes the short test but it fails on the long test with an error 08-Too many bad sectors detected.

Once the format/zero/read hits the bad sectors the drive shuts down.

How do I find out if the drive is still under warranty so I can get it fixed.

Here is a copy and paste from the report.

Go to the ‘Warranrty Check’ page and input your country and hard-disk part number … this is the link …

http://websupport.wdc.com/warranty/serialinput.asp?custtype=end&requesttype=warranty&lang=en

It’s under ‘Support’ if you need to get to it from the main page … I’m in the UK so it may be slightly different for you.

Thanks, Under Warranty so will be returned.
