Hi, I am trying to upgrade my Seagate 250gb drive with the above. The WD drive is recognised as an external drive attached via USB. The original Seagate is recognised in BIOS. I am using Vista sp2 on a Dell 1525 using AHCI BIOS version A11.
The WD drive when inserted into the laptop is not recognised in BIOS., although as I said it is recognised when attched via USB.
ANy ides?
Whoops, problem was that the WD hdd is thinner than the Seagate hdd, 7mm vs 9.5mm, hence the the WD contacts “slipped” under the sata sockets.
Anyway problems solved. Hope it may help others though.
