We bought 6x 3TB RED Drives for two RAID-5 NAS solutions. One of the drives failed. We filed a RMA case at WD but unfortunately WD thinks 5 days processing time for a support call ‘ought to be fast enough’ for business customers.
The technology the RED drives use maybe new and fast. The support of WD on these so called RED drives is beneath business standards. HP and Dell solve business problems within 24hrs (without a contract!). 48hrs at the most.
So I guess these RED drives aren’t meant for business afterall. They are obviously targeted at consumers with a lot of spare time on their hands.
Still a long road to go WD
