wd2500 not seen by pc windows 98se

I downloaded the update drivers for my my bood wd2500d032 ext drive.  I unzipped the driver and installed them with no problems.  When I rebooted my pc the new hardware was found by win98 but, then Add New Hardware Wizard stated, search for USB Devise I think it was looking for an inf file but when I directed to the downloaded uziped but it did not work.  Anyone know of anything I can do?  Thanks
