You must use Windows XP sp 1 home edition for Caviar Green HDD because The speed of Caviar Green is 5400 Rpm if you still use Windows 7 the hardisk will be broken and damage. Or you can buy Caviar Black this month.

you have some problem in the platters or read head

please turn off your hard drive until you have something to backup your data

if your data is important then stop using the hdd and buy new hdd and backup your files asap, once the problematic hdd go out of your hand then recovering data is very hard, ask me i have lost my data 2 times becuz i never used to backup my data, now i bought a 2TB hdd and thinking to buy a external 2TB so i make backups.

your hdd is not 7200 speed, i have done a lot research on WD hdds, all the new [green] hdd wd are 5400 speed

ANSWER IS SIMPLE MY FRIEND

the hard disk sentinel is the best program to rely on, if it says problem, there is in it.

buy new hdd and copy your data and RMA your failing hdd if possible.

i bought this WD2001FASS, and used wdidle3.exe, [[the LLC happen after 300 seconds[5 mins]…wdidle3 cannot disable the LLC…]] + 7200 real speed and fast read/write speed, sata 2 most computers, sata 3 not yet i see in computer so buy this WD2001FASS, i recommend it to you, i bought 2 off ebay brandnew, 5 year warranty on each.

best luck to you friend

WD2001FASS is [not] advanced format and can run xp / vista / win7… no problem

xp does reconize it, i think xp cannot [over] 2TB i read somewhere i am not sure.

remember to fix the idle3 timer otherwise the hdd will not last long like before the one u had it. timer3 is the thing the LLC does every 8/12 seconds which is very trouble and can cause problem with the hdd, the wd did no good making such LLC but company you know what can we do, their wish what they want, as buyer the wdidle3.exe does the job otherwise i wouldnt recommend wd for over 500 gb hdds… [the 500 gb wd black work very nicely without fixing anything, the LLC and other stuff no problem at all…it is over 120 days no problem]

thank you uk_baba

what is LLC ,

and my country is turkey and 1 tb wd10ears 10 USD and i bought it and i backup my archive.

and i use hdd for archive and caviar series are really expensive for me

and i send back  my hdd to  my buyer and probably they are send me new hdd

maybe later i buy sata3 hdd for my operation system

thank you for your all comment.

i think u must have spelled incorrectly, it should be 100 US  1TB, am i right?

yes black wd are expensive, green ones are not bad.

i found a solution

see this example.

2tb hdd,  xp/win7 and files

another 2tb hdd external/internal for backup of the 1st hdd (important files and once every month/…)

the hard disk sentinel did showed…did u see also  the read picture and said failure predicted…

ok friend enjoy now

u know the blackup of 1st hdd…   this way  you are protected against many things

1 thing…u should disable in device manager the 2nd hdd after backup if it is internal becuz if your 1st hdd get virus and it spread then u know it can go to 2nd hdd also…

the external one is best solution…

it is data that concerns all of us u know, if u spend little extra on it then u have peace of mind.

another solution burning to dvds but problem when updating…

but most important data that not needs update like pictures of family…dvd more reliable…i hear it can last 10years if good quality disc like verbatims…verbatim dvd-r the best.  the dvd+r and cd-r / cd-rw have issues though.

i gave u many answers and links of LLC  if u had read pproerply u should have known by now.

check my answers againa and google if still not sure

sorry i thought i had posted the links but checked no yet… i have mix info  that i did research now u research, dont panic though like me , there are solutions if u try to struggle…

SecurePark - Parks the recording heads off the disk surface during spin up, spin down and when the drive is off. This ensures the recording head never touches the disk surface resulting in improved long-term reliability and increased drive protection when the chassis is moved

The second level of cache (L2 cache) is where the L1 cache pulls in information from. L2 cache is slower than L1 cache, but is more affordable and can be much larger than L1. With the exception of L3 caches mentioned above, this is the cache which pulls information in from main memory.
