WD TV or Live media player

Hi guys, I’m wondering if I should buy WD TV Live media player as it’s slightly cheaper than WD TV media player. I understand the hardware configuration of both are the same, only difference is Live lacking netflix. For now I will use it to play HD Video files on my computer, nas maybe in the future. So lacking netflix is not a big deal. My question is: is Live some kind of EOL? For the future support, firmware upgrade for instance, will WD TV have some advantages? Thanks.

There’s been no definitve statement but it would appear the SMP is EOL, so better get the current model if you don’t need Netflix.

Thanks, already placed order for new model. By the way, can optical output 24/192?

just from a quick gOOgle search … it appears no

Optical (Toslink) is limited to 24/96, that is the standard

So what will happen if I play a HD Video file containing 24/192 audio?
