WD TV Mini Playback sudden stop problem

Hello,

i bought recently a WD TV Mini and i got the following problem:

  • many times when i’m watching something it suddenly stops and goes back to the main menu! Then shows a message something “Please insert a USB device”.

But even with that message i’m able to use and browse the disk.

If i insist in playing what i was watching it doesn’t resume where it stopped (and this is also very annoying). And most of times it stops again but in a different point!

I need some feedback here to help me understand what kind of problem is this.

I use a 500GB USB 2.0 external HD from WD.

The WD TV Mini has the latest Firmware version available on WD Support site: 1.00.60

I used MediaInfo (as suggested in this forum) to identify the type of CODEC some videos use and all had the above problem.

Can you help me with this?

I’m a WD customer for many years.

Thank you very much in advance.

I have the exact same problem.

I have to either reconnect the drive or power the unit off and back on to continue.

I found it generally happens in the first 5 min or so of playback and may do it 2 or 3 times until it starts playing without any problems.
