WD TV live & Mac OS Extended (Journaled) hard drive?

I recently just bought a iMac, I have alot of files videos that is bigger than 4GB. If I format the hard drive into Mac OS Exteneded (Journaled). Will the WD TV Live works with it? I just bought the hard drive. It is 3TB. Is there any fireware that is required for the wd TV Live to read 3TB Mac OS Exteneded (Journaled).

I know there are other post in here, but I just don’t really understand it.

Edited: I have the WD TV Live and not the Live Plus.

There is some WDTV Mac Discussion here…

The WDTV definitely does support Mac OS Extended (HFS+) drives. Journaled HFS+ formatting is also OK, but the WDTV does not provide the “Media Library” features with a journaled drive.

The User Manual confirms HFS+ support

Thank you very much for pointing that out.

“but the WDTV does not provide the “Media Library” features with a journaled drive.”

does that include the Mac OS Extended (Jounaled). Or just the Jounaled? are they different?

Journaling at all on HFS is not supported by the WD.

The WD will consider the volume “Read-Only” if journaling is enabled.
